English transcription: An International Campaign for Florence and Venice was opened on 2 December 1966 at UNESCO headquarters by Mr. René Maheu, Diector-General of UNESCO with an appeal to the solidarity of the Organization's Member States. The Campaign is for the preservation and restoration of the works of art of these two cities which were damaged during the floods in November 1966. On the first floor of the Museo dell' Opera del Duomo volunteers are drying the great illuminated antiphonaries by placing absorbant paper between the sheets of parchment.
