English transcription: On 8 July 1975, the ancient Burmese city of Pagan was ravaged by an earthquake and many splendid monuments were badly damaged. In December 1975, a UNESCO expert visited Pagan at the request of the Burmese government to make an inventory of the damage produced by the earthquake. Thatbyinnyu Pagoda (1144 BC), the tallest of all monuments of Pagan with its 61-metre high spire; its upper part was badly damaged.

Un expert fut envoyé par l'UNESCO en Décembre 1975 à la demande du gouvernement birman afin de faire une évaluation des dégâts. Le temple de Thatbyinnyu, qui date de 1144, dominait de ses 61 métres tous les autres édifices. La partie haute a été endommagée.
