This Congress, in which over 1,000 scientists from 38 countries have participated, has covered a wide variety of scientific subjects relating to oceanography. Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, to whom the Calypso belongs, and who is the Director of the Oceanographic Museum at Monaco, has created a kind of Submarine saucer, a diving device which runs on gas, and which can take two persons to a depth of 1,000 feet.
