Technical Sub-Committee on the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Needs of Devastated Areas

Subseries consists of documents issued by the Preparatory Commission's Technical Sub-Committee on the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Needs of Devastated Areas. Staff circulars

Subseries consists of Staff circulars issued by the Preparatory Commission. The circulars were directed at staff to keep them informed of general administrative matters, such as, for example, the working hours or the transfer of the staff to Paris.

Speeches of the Director General

This collection contains speeches and addresses of the Director General of UNESCO reproduced as Secretariat documents. There are also speeches as manuscripts, appeals and messages, some interventions and statements in meetings, also occasional interviews, in general, texts delivered or intended to be delivered orally.

Social Sciences Committee documents and meetings

Subseries consists of documents issued by the Preparatory Commission's Social Sciences Committee, as well as the records of the Committee's meetings. The documents and meeting records have the document code Prep.Com./ Soc.Sci.Com./. The subseries is arranged in order of the code with the documents before the meeting records. There are also some records without document codes.

Science Commission files

Subseries consists of correspondence files of the CAME Science Commission. The files pertain to CAME's work in general and to the Commission's work in studying needs for scientific equipment and preparing inventories. The files were reorganized by the Natural Sciences Section of the UNESCO Secretariat according to a numeric classification scheme. There are also some records of the Natural Sciences Section that were added to the files.

Subseries contains corrected provisional summary records for the meetings of the Special Committee of Governmental Experts on the Preparation of a Draft International Convention and a Draft Recommendation on the Various Aspects of Discrimination in Education. There are handwritten corrections on the documents as well as retyped paragraphs.

Représentation de la Chine à l'Unesco

Subseries consists of typescript of oral presentation of the Legal Advisor, M. Claude Lussier, before the 88th Session of the Executive Board on the matter of the Participation of China in the execution of the programme. The speech is published almost verbatim in the Summary Records of the 88th Session with only minor variations in phrasing. There are also memoranda on its transfer to Archives. The Archives staff registered these records in the series as special documents.

Recommendations

Subseries consists of original copies of Recommendations adopted at sessions of the General Conference since 1978. There are also some instruments from member states announcing the adoption of the Recommendation.

Projets interagences

Archives staff planned to collect inter-agency agreements in this subseries, beginning in 1978. However, only two agreements were ever registered in this fashion, under the code A/453.
