Travelling 1.000 kilometres (600 miles), a car consumes as much oxygen as a human being does in a year, and in addition to lethal carbon monoxide, it emits annually about one kilogramme of lead. Another problem created by the proliferation of motor vehicules is how to dispose of wrecked and worn-out hulks. Increasingly they pile up in hideous cemeteries which blight the countryside as here at Genevilliers.

English transcription: In 1966 UNESCO experts studied the problem of the reconstitution of works of art whose dismembered parts are scattered among museums or excavation sites. One of the measures recommended by the experts was publicity work in the form of exhibitions conceived as pilot projects such as the one being held at present in UNESCO House. Here, a Persian carpet (second quarter of the 16th century). The two halves of this Tabriz carpet belong respectively to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris and to the Museum of the Royal of Wawel, Cracow, Poland.
