English transcription: Since 1957 the Moroccan Government has been establishing eucalyptus plantations here in one of the most barren zones of the country. As part of the scheme, 25 miles of low walls have been constructed, serving the dual purpose of protecting the saplings from strong winds and damming rainwater. Unemployed workers of the region provide the labour for the project, supervised by the Water and Forestry Administration.
