Venice's heritage is threatened by storms which are causing more and more flooding in the city. Swift currents eat at the city's foundation. Humidity and air pollution are causing paintings and the city's marble to deteriorate. UNESCO, on 2 December 1966, launched a campaign for the saving of Venice.
