English transcription: The Fundamental Education Centre of Sirs-el-Layyan (ASFEC) was created jointly by UNESCO and the Goverment of the U.A.R. One of its aims is to raise the standard of living of villagers of the region. A trainee social worker from the centre, is seen here, visiting a Calioub village.

The reconstruction of the Abu Simbel Temples was completed on their new elevated sites in September 1968.
