Governmental organization files

The subseries consists of files on international, regional and national governmental organizations that had official relations or some sort of exchange with the IBI. Most files are relatively thin, with the exception of the following: relations with UNESCO (IBI/6/1/1/34) and relations with UNCTAD (IBI/6/1/1/32). The files appear to be complete although it is likely, as with other series, that there are gaps in the correspondence for years prior to 1980.

Preliminary concept and development phase

  • Subseries
  • 1986, 1988, 1992, 1993-1996
  • Part of Secretariat Records

Subseries consists of files related to the conception and early development of the Peace Games. These include correspondence and documentation of initiatives related to the themes of youth and peace undertaken by Member States, and financing opportunities (sponsorships and partnerships).

Science Commission files

Subseries consists of correspondence files of the CAME Science Commission. The files pertain to CAME's work in general and to the Commission's work in studying needs for scientific equipment and preparing inventories. The files were reorganized by the Natural Sciences Section of the UNESCO Secretariat according to a numeric classification scheme. There are also some records of the Natural Sciences Section that were added to the files.

History of the IBI

Subseries consists of a box of material marked "Histoire de l'IBI." It contains different types of documents relating to the creation of the IBI (starting in 1951), the Constitution Committee, and the provisional International Computation Centre. Copies of the legal agreements with the Italian government (headquarters agreement, official journal, decree, etc) are also in the files. In addition to this, there are also copies of memoranda reviewing the situation of the Organization and its future prospects. There is also a paper by the 'DEA' which documents the history of the organization from its creation through to the 1980s.

Transcripts

Transcripts of ICPHS general assemblies from the first session (Brussels, January 1949), to the twenty-third (Cairo, November 1986).

Accords bilateraux entre le Gouvernement du Cambodge et l'Ecole Française d'Extrême-Orient concernant le régime des fouilles archéologiques sur le territoire de cet Etat

Subseries consists of certified copies of bilateral agreements signed between the Government of Cambodia and the Ecole Française d'Extrême-Orient. It is unclear if these agreements were sent for informational purposes or if they were sent as supporting documents for later or concurrent UNESCO legal agreements with Cambodia concerning archeological sites.
