English transcription: The International Campaign for the saving of the Nubian monuments, was launched by UNESCO in 1960. Following the construction of the Aswan High Dam, the monuments of the island of Philae are permanently flooded to a third of their height and are subject to daily fluctuations in the water level which eat away their foundations and threaten to bring them down to ruins. In May 1968, it was decided to dismantle and re-erect the monuments on the neighbouring island of Agilkia which is sufficiently elevated to be above the maximum water level. Here, preliminary work. In the background is the temple of Isis.

English transcription: Year by year Venice is slowly falling into decay as it sinks into the mud of its lagoon. Many of the buildings are falling into ruins, simply because they are uninhabited. Venice's heritage is threatened by storms which are causing more and more flooding in the city. Swift currents eat at the city's foundation. Humidity and air pollution are causing paintings and the city's marble to deteriorate. UNESCO, on 2 December 1966, launched a campaign for the saving of Venice and has commenced a large-scale study of the Venetian problem as a whole. Here, restoration of the front of St. Marc's Basilica.
