Memorandum of Understanding between UNESCO and the Government of the Republic of Honduras, during the visit of the General Director of UNESCO in Honduras

This understanding, signed on the occasion of the official visit of the general director of UNESCO in Honduras from 18 to 20 April 1999, is intended to strengthen their cooperation. It sets out the list of UNESCO's projects and activities in Honduras, including a contribution to support the transformation of the National Education of Honduras.

Note from Foreign Office, London, regarding decrees by Venezuela and Belgium

Item indicates that Venezuelan Government in a note dated 12 November 1946 had informed the Foreign Office that a decree ratifying the Constitution had been issued and that the Instrument of Acceptance would be forwarded by air. Item also indicates that Belgian Government had passed a law approving the Constitution on 13 November 1946.

To eradicate this problem, the Committee for Popular Culture and Literacy has set up 27 small literacy centres throughout the city, attended, in the main, by young men and women workers, but also by housewives and others interested in learning.

On each is the picture of an object, its name and the first letter of the name: "e" as in escoba (broom); "l" as in luna (moon), and so on. Thus an illiterate is able to proceed from the image to the word without difficulty.
