English transcription: Year by year Venice is slowly falling into decay as it sinks into the mud of its lagoon. Many of the buildings are falling into ruins. Venice's heritage is threatened by storms which are causing more and more flooding in the city. Swift currents eat at the city's foundation. Humidity and air pollution are causing paintings and the city's marble to deteriorate. UNESCO, on 2 December 1966, launched a campaign for the saving of Venice and has commenced a large-scale study of the Venetian problem as a whole. An example of decaying statuary San Giovanni e Paolo.
