Science Commission files

Subseries consists of correspondence files of the CAME Science Commission. The files pertain to CAME's work in general and to the Commission's work in studying needs for scientific equipment and preparing inventories. The files were reorganized by the Natural Sciences Section of the UNESCO Secretariat according to a numeric classification scheme. There are also some records of the Natural Sciences Section that were added to the files.

Joint Executive Committee and Conference of Allied Ministers of Education Meetings

The resulting publication explained UNESCO's suggested programme of action in the field of fundamental education. Subseries consists of bulletins issued by the Preparatory Commission to inform a general public of news on the Organization's activities. The bulletins are arranged in chronological order based on their issue number.

Press Conference

Subseries consists of one document with a transcribed speech from a Preparatory Commission press conference held 18 October 1946. The speech was made by M. Montagnier, Head Counsellor in charge of the First Session of the General Conference and the Month of UNESCO. The speech is about the Month of UNESCO - the intellectual and artistic exhibitions thqt were to take place at the same time as the General Conference.

Subseries consists of documents issued by the Preparatory Commission's Consultative Committee of Representatives of International Organizations - Relief Appeal Sub-Committee. Diapositifs

La sous-série des diapositifs contient des négatifs de diapositifs d'évènements auxquels l'IBI participa, ou organisa. On y trouve notamment des diapositives du séminaire inaugural de l'Institut pour le développement de l'informatique (IBIDI), tenu à la technopolis de Bari, du 24 au 30 novembre 1985, ainsi que les diapositifs d'une communication donnée par Enrique Melrose, directeur du département de l'Amérique latine à l'occasion d'une conférence indéterminée. D'autres diapositifs contiennent des éléments de présentation de l'IBI, dont certains à l'occasion de la conférence SPIN et celles d'un accord de coopération engageant l'IBI de nature indéterminée. Trois autres boîtes de diapositifs renseignement sur des réunions de l'IBI.

Une grande partie des diapositifs présentants l'IBI semble être du matériel utilisé dans la confection des enregistrements promotionnels audiovisuels de l'IBI. Ceux-ci pourront être consultés dans les ensembles de la sous-série des cassettes vidéos magnétiques, particulièrement le dossier "Présentation de l'IBI".

Relations avec les pays membres et non membres

Le cabinet du directeur général de l'IBI avait à charge la gestion des correspondances avec les Etats, qu'ils soient membres ou pas de l'Organisation.

Cette série contient ainsi des dossiers nomminatifs, en fonction des pays, contenant l'ensemble des correspondances échangées entre l'IBI et les pays membres et non membres. Ces correspondances peuvent être accompagnées de pièces joints variées : rapports, documents d'évènements ayant un rapport avec l'informatique, accords de coopération, etc.

On a conservé la classification telle qu'elle existait au sein de l'IBI, à savoir un classement alphanumérique sériel suivant l'ordre alphabétique croissant des pays. Par exemple : "C.1" pour l'Afghanistan, "C.2" pour l'Albanie, "C.3" pour l'Algérie, etc.

Il apparait que dans la majorité des cas, les dossiers antérieurs aux années 1982 sont manquants. On le remarque plus fortement pour les pays ayant des échanges nombreux avec l'IBI comme l'Italie, la France, l'Espagne, ou encore les Etats Unis d'Amérique, par exemple. Ces derniers pays représentent les séries de dossiers les plus fournies.

UNESCO Relations with the Countries of the World

Beyond the official correspondence, the files for any country can be further broken down into the following files: D - relations with the Permanent Delegation; F - financial contributions; SF - Special Fund; TA - Technical Assistance; UNDP - UNDP projects/programming; A 118 - Funds-in-trust; A 562 - Briefings for the Director-General; AMS - Aid to member states (participation programme); AR - annual reports; Club - UNESCO clubs or local groups; NC - relations with the National Commission; and, NLM - national liberation movements.
