English transcription: The United Nations Development Programme made an agreement to assist the Government of India in the establishment of the Mechanical Engineering Research and Development Organi-zation (MERADO). UNESCO was involved in the implementation of the this project which complements the Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) in Durgapur. During the Diwali (sort of Indian Christmas) even the machines receive offerings.
French transcription: Le Programme des Nations-Unies pour le Développment a conclu un accord d'assistance avec le Gouvernment de l'Inde pour établir une organisation de Recherche et de Développement pour les Industries Mécaniques (MERADO). L'UNESCO a été responsable de certains aspects de ce programme qui complète celui de l'Institut Central de Recherche dans l'Industrie Mécanique (CMERI) à Durgapur.
