UNESCO was involved in the implementation of this project which complements the Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) in Durgapur. The purpose of this Institute is to create specialised training facilities for technicians, technical instructors, foremen and engineers in order to help meet the manpower requirements in these fields.
