The concert combined performances by world-famous soloists and orchestras playing in New York, Paris and Geneva. The Salle Pleyel concert was a highlight of the Semaines Musicales de Paris a five-week festival organized by the International Music Council under the auspices of UNESCO. Seen here just before the concert in the Salle Pleyel are two of the participants violonists David Oistrakh (USSR) at left and Yehudi Menuhin (USA). During the concert Mr Menuhin and Mr Oistrakh performed Bach's Double Violin Concerto in D Minor with the Orchestre de Chambre de la Radiodiffusion-Television Française conducted by Pierre Capdevielle.

A World Music Day was proclaimed on the occasion of the creation of this Fund at which time, each year, a benefit concert will be organized. The first two concerts given on the 8 and 9 January brought together for the first time, a number of musicians of world renown.
